NAME TAKING Ceremonies

Using ceremonies to mark milestones and changes in our lives, as well as new and exciting beginnings and sometimes difficult endings, is an important part of how we live a full life, accept new normals and find our way forward.

So, over the coming days I thought I would share some of the other ceremonies I offer as a celebrant, not just weddings and funerals.

Today, I’m featuring my NAME TAKING ceremonies.

A NAME TAKING ceremony is usually for an older child or adult and is organised BY that person when they are CHOOSING to take a new name that better aligns with their true identity or allows them to move on from a name they no longer want to be known by.

A name can define you. It can tell the world who you are and how you want to be known. That’s why it is so important to celebrate and formally mark the transition to a new name to align with new ideas, new futures and new possibilities. It can also be a great opportunity to remind friends and family, that from now on, this is how you would like to be known.
