Name Taking Ceremonies

Choosing a name for yourself, a name that reflects who you are and who you deserve to be, should be a time of celebration, transition and understanding.

A Name Taking ceremony marks the occasion and allows family and friends to be a part of the change in a positive way.

What’s in a name? is a famous phrase, but it turns out there really is a lot.

A name can define you. It can tell the world who you are and how you want to be known. It allows you to be part of an overall identity that has that name at its forefront and tells people your identity.

That’s why it is so important to celebrant the transition to a new name to align with new ideas, new futures and new possibilities.

Marking such a special occasion of transition and new possibilities is an important milestone, a milestone that can be personal or shared with trusted family and friends.

A Name Taking ceremony can include words written by you with poems, rituals or other celebratory elements (it's really up to you), or it can be a ceremony written by me as your celebrant with information about the name you have taken, your pronouns and what it means to you.

It's important to note that this celebration can be as fun and low-key or as formal and serious as you want it to be.
